ABOUT SIESO
SIESO aims are
- to identify good practice through liaison with industry, commerce, the emergency services, central and local government and the regulatory bodies
- to provide opportunities for discussion on the avoidance and mitigation of the effects of major incidents amongst those involved in the planning and management of a response to an incident
SIESO undertakes to
- organise workshops, seminars, study periods and visits, which are noted for their professionalism and the competence and authority of the speakers find out about events
- be represented on national bodies where the members’ views can be presented. Among others, these include Civil Contingencies Co-ordination Alliance, The National Steering Group on Warning and Informing the Public and The Chemicals and Pipelines Emergency Planning Liaison Group
- encourage and enjoy a sound working relationship with regulatory bodies throughout the United Kingdom and with those competent authorities associated with regulations and guidance
- work closely with professional associations and institutions and their branches in sponsoring events of mutual interest
- broaden its links with industry, commerce and the appropriate trade associations
- provide a website and regular enewsletters to its members
- provide an electronic forum for members’ discussions
- offer student membership to share knowledge and actively reach tomorrow’s influencers and decision-makers
A management committee comprising its officers, other elected members and branch representatives, manages SIESO in accordance with its Constitution.
